SUMMARY:Navigating Strained Family Relationships
DESCRIPTION:Difficult family relationships can take many forms. Any kind of strained relationship can have long-lasting negative impacts on your health and well-being\, such as experience fear and anxiety\, not reaching out to family for support\, suffering from lack of emotional or financial support during hard times\, and so on. \nTo minimise these effects\, it is possible to learn to identify causes of strained relationships and strategies to support peaceful interactions with family members. \nIn this free session neighbour and Emeritus Professor in Mental Health Nursing\, Eimear\, will take us through approaches to support your own health and well-being and possibly improve your relationships with those closest to you. \n\nThis activity is made possible with the generous support from the Australian Government Department of Social Services and our partner ECH Inc. \nWe would like to acknowledge that this session takes place on the Traditional land of the Kaurna People. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past\, present and emerging. We recognise that sovereignty of this land was never ceded and we stand in solidarity with all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This always was\, and always will be Aboriginal land.

SUMMARY:Neighbourhood Garden Session
DESCRIPTION:The Queenstown Neighbourhood Garden has been in development since July 2022\, and since then a small group of local garden enthusiasts have transformed what was a vacant plot of grass and weeds into a budding community garden with various types of garden beds\, native plants and different types of herbs\, veggies\, flowers and trees. The garden fully relies on locals to help with planting\, planning\, watering and harvesting. \nA regular garden session is now planned for every Monday (morning) and Thursday (afternoon)\, and what gets done each time depends on how many hands are available to help\, what materials we have gathered and what plants or seeds have been donated. The garden is very much a work in progress\, and we welcome any and all people who want to help turn it into a lively neighbourhood garden. \nCome along either on Monday or Thursday\, or both. We usually have a cuppa after our hard work together\, but this is not obligatory or expected of you. If you just want to get your hands dirty\, that is fine too! Bring your own gardening gloves and favourite tools if you want. \n  \n\nThe Neighbourhood Garden is located on the Traditional lands of the Kaurna People. We pay our respects to Elders past\, present and emerging and acknowledge that sovereignty of this land was never ceded. We promise to tread lightly and consider it our duty to look after the land as best we can. \nThe Neighbourhood Garden activities are made possible with support from the Australian Government Department of Social Services\, our partner ECH Inc. and the South Australian Government Office for Ageing Well.
