SUMMARY:Dying to Know - Monthly Meet-Up - Ageing Well Week
DESCRIPTION:Ageing Well Week – Dying to Know Workshop\n📅 4th October 2025 \n📍 QT Neighbourhood Node\, 67 Spring Street\, Queenstown\, SA 5014 \n⏰ 11.00am – 1.00pm \n✒️ RSVP: rosalie@wholisticservicesadelaide.com \nThe Dying to Know Project is now underway following the success of Dying to Know Day on 8 August. This initiative is all about bringing conversations around death and dying back into the community — creating a safe\, open space to share experiences\, ask questions\, and connect with valuable resources. \nMeet-ups will continue on the first Saturday of each month\, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm\, and everyone is welcome to join the discussion. \nAt the upcoming session on 4th October 2025\, Danielle Phillips from Sage Executor Solutions will be presenting a Mini Masterclass on Deceased Estate Administration\, offering practical guidance on what families and executors can expect and how to prepare to mobilise when a loved one dies. Did you know it takes between 200-300 hours of work sourcing all paperwork needed to finalise an Estate? A role that is often emotionally overwhelming for ones left to deal with all of that in between their busy lives. \nThis is an opportunity to source information\, and be prepared\, create ease and comfort for that time when it is needed. We never know when that will be.\n\nThe Dying to Know Project is supported by the Minor Works Program.\n\nThis workshop takes place on the Traditional lands of the Kaurna people. We pay our respects to Elders\, past and present\, and acknowledge that sovereignty of this land was never ceded. This always was\, and always will be\, Aboriginal land.

SUMMARY:Dying to Know - Monthly Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Dying to Know – Monthly Community Conversation \nIn August\, a group of locals gathered for “Dying to Know Day”\, an honest and surprisingly uplifting conversation about something we all share: death. What began as a discussion turned into an inspiring morning about life\, choice\, and community. \nTogether\, we asked big questions: Why do we fear death so much? Why aren’t we taught about it? People shared personal reflections\, the hope for a peaceful passing surrounded by care\, and even the practical side of things like funeral costs\, eco-friendly options\, and advance directives. \nSome of the most powerful moments came when participants spoke about love and culture\, how grief is expressed differently in families\, and how death can reconnect us as we face loss. We also discovered heart-warming initiatives like the Threshold Choir\, where volunteers sing gentle songs at a person’s bedside\, and heard from Rosalie about the growing movement of death doulas\, who support families through the journey of dying at home with dignity. \nOur next gathering is this Saturday\, 6th September\, 11am–1pm\, at QT Neighbourhood Node (67 Spring St\, Queenstown)Enjoy complimentary cake\, tea\, and coffee while we chat. \nThis time\, we’ll explore:“How times are changing regarding end-of-life care at home and in hospice or hospital.” \nIt’s a chance to ask the questions you’ve always wanted to know\, and to listen\, share\, and learn together in a warm\, informal space. You’re welcome to stay for the whole conversation or drop in as long as family life allows. \nThis group is for everyone\, from younger people caring for friends or family\, to those reflecting on their own journeys. “Dying to Know” encompasses it all: care and compassion\, legal and practical matters\, paperwork\, and the deeply human side of facing death together. \nLet’s keep our community growing as we explore what’s possible when crisis times arise. We don’t have to journey alone.

SUMMARY:Dying to Know - Planning Meeting
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, July 2nd\, a passionate group of locals came together to imagine how we might bring death to life\, with openness\, honesty\, curiosity\, and care. \nTogether\, they dreamed up a monthly community conversation where people can openly talk about death and dying. The goal? To normalise these important conversations\, share helpful information\, and create a safe\, welcoming space where no question is too small and no topic is off-limits. \nThis won’t be a counselling group\, it’s about connection\, learning\, and gently breaking open a subject that’s often been kept behind closed doors. \nA project team has now formed and will be meeting for the first time on:\n📅 Friday\, July 11th\n🕙 10:00 AM\n📍 The Pear \nEveryone is welcome—whether you’d like to help shape and plan the project or simply stay in the loop for when the first conversation session kicks off.

SUMMARY:'Dying to Know' - Spark Session
DESCRIPTION:Come along to start a conversation about something we’ll all face but rarely talk about—death and dying.\n\n\n\n When: Wednesday\, July 2nd\, 7–9 pm\n Where: QT Neighbourhood Node\n\n\n\nThis session will hopefully be the start of a neighbourhood initiative inspired by Dying to Know Day (August 8th)\, a national day dedicated to encouraging open\, honest\, and meaningful discussions about death.\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll explore how we can create supportive spaces to share stories\, ask questions\, and build understanding in a way that eases the stress around death\, loss\, and grief. Perhaps this could transform these challenging moments into opportunities for connection and growth.\n\nWhether you’ve thought about this deeply or are simply curious\, your presence can help shape this project and create something truly meaningful.\n\n\nThere’s no expectation to join the project team after the Spark Session\, but you’re welcome to if you’d like!\n\n\n\nRSVP to hello@neighbourhoodnode.com.au or just come along.\n\n\n\nLet’s spark a conversation that matters.
