To celebrate the anniversary of the launch of the Alberton History Audio Walk, we are hosting two guided history walks to round up this year’s History Festival! The walk will take you past 20 locations to create a unique peek into what it was like to live in Alberton at different points in history.
Friday May 26 – 10am, meet at The Pear
Saturday May 27 – 10am, meet at The Pear
The stories you will hear have come from interviews with eleven past and present Alberton residents, as well as from historical materials. The interviews, historical research and putting together this walk were done by a team of dedicated local volunteers. Since its launch in 2022, more stories have been added to the walk. We hope it brings these places to life in a new way!
The walk takes approximately 90 minutes and is wheelchair accessible.
We would like to acknowledge that this activity takes place on the Traditional land of the Kaurna People. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We recognise that sovereignty of this land was never ceded and we stand in solidarity with all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This always was, and always will be Aboriginal land.
