Feel Good October was a joyful celebration of wellbeing, connection, and creativity in our neighbourhood, all part of the Kind to the Mind project. From live Music Mondays and hands-on workshops like cooking with Sharon, clowning, meditation, and EFT tapping, to a mental health resources stall, the month was packed with opportunities to connect, try something new, and nurture our mental health.
The month reminded us of the power of community, of shared experiences, and of small moments that make a big difference for wellbeing. We can't wait to see what's next for Kind to the Mind!Β
The Kind to the Mind team have been working in the last few weeks to finalise the program, create promotional materials, set up registration links, and liaise with all the workshop leaders. The team are pleased to let you know that bookings are now open for the wide variety of activities on offer during Feel Good October!

Here's a summary of our "Feel Good October" festival planning meeting from September 12th:
Festival Branding & Communication
We've decided to call our mental health initiative a "festival" rather than a program. We selected a clean, welcoming design for our materials. We'll use posters with QR codes linking to our website and create social media content to promote the event.
Registration Process
We're setting up a streamlined registration form that allows people to sign up for multiple activities at once. For the hand massage activity, we'll use a simple sign-up sheet at the event. Our registration system will be ready for testing by next Friday.
Activities Overview
We need brief descriptions from each facilitator explaining their activity and its wellbeing benefits. Our current line-up includes Aroma Touch & Reiki, Tapping with Tammy, Worry Dolls, Clowning, Music, Meditation, Rhythm and Movement, and Cooking workshops.
Sponsorship Approach
We developed a friendly pitch for potential sponsors that focuses on holistic wellbeing. We'll be reaching out to local businesses for support in the coming days.
Next Steps
Our follow-up meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 19th at 10:30am at QT. Before then, we need to confirm capacity limits for each activity and finalise our website content. The project is coming together nicely!
Getting Involved
If you would like to get involved in further planning, or have something you would like to contribute, please come along to our planning meeting on Friday September 19th, or reach out to hello@neighbourhoodnode.com.au!
On Friday September 5th the Kind to the Mind team came together to start planning the βFeel Good Octoberβ program for Mental Health Month.
The team discussed promotion, inclusion and accessibility, risk management, fundraising and the finer details of the program.
The August 6th Spark Session led to the creation of the Kind to the Mind project, whose goal is to:
Create awareness about mental health and create opportunities for connection through well-being activities in our communities.
The project's focus will initially be on putting on a program for this year's Mental Health Month (October), under the title of Feel Good October. A range of activities have been identified, which will be planned over the next two months.
To put together the program and plan all the activities, the team will get together for their first planning meeting on Friday September 5th, 10.30am at QT. Anyone who wants to be involved, is curious or has further ideas is welcome to come along!
On Wednesday August 6th, 2-4pm at QT we held a Spark Session to form a community-based program of activities for Mental Health Month.
